Pathfinder Program

“You must be prepared to serve as servants for all your lives. Never think of being a leader. Without becoming a servant, you cannot become a leader. You must first learn to follow before becoming a leader. A good leader serves and becomes a servant to humanity,, before seeking leadership. Learning to follow before leading”.

Sathya Sai BaBa,
Divine Discourse, May 20, 1976.

Introduction

Pathfinder Leadership Program – Empowering Youth, Transforming Communities Launched in March 2024 in Sri Lanka, this Program is a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering youth to become compassionate, service-oriented leaders. The program places a strong emphasis on uplifting underprivileged communities, fostering both Educare and Sociocare.

Pathfinder has adopted around 245 children from ten villages across the country, many from single-parent households or families reliant on daily-wage labor. Regular home visits help track each child’s attendance, academic progress, and overall well-being. Simultaneously, workshops are conducted to help parents understand the importance of education and instill human values in the home environment.

In addition to educational support, the children receive essential school supplies, sports equipment, and ongoing encouragement to pursue their dreams.

Pathfinder is more than a program, it is a movement demonstrating that true leadership begins with selfless service.

Background

Around 20% of the children identified in this program have single parents and many of whom are daily wage earners. 90% of the men in this program have been identified to be addicted to alcohol and drugs. Even children are being sold drugs at a very young age due to negligence.

Young marriages due to negligence of parents. Children must endure an unsafe and exhausting journey by walking at least 3 kilometers over damaged roads and hazardous pathways.

Therefore, this initiative reinforces young minds, through mentorship and guidance alongside support in their academics. This initiative aims to break the cycle of poverty and cultivate a brighter future for generations to come.
